Once upon a time there was a talkative little turtle who had an ambitious dream - to fly!  He was so captivated by the idea of seeing the world from way up in the air, that he spoke about it constantly to all the other animals in the forest, wondering how he could accomplish his goal.

But though many found his quest to be entertaining, none could offer any advice...

...until he met a group of crows who were so impressed (and amused) by the little fellow's desire that they agreed to make his wish come true.  They gave him a branch to hold in his mouth, which they in turn grabbed with their beaks - and up they flew!

The turtle couldn't help proclaim his excitement, and upon opening his mouth fell hopelessly back down to the earth.

Later, despite a few cracks in his shell, and a temporarily bruised ego, he was declared a hero, for he did indeed become the first turtle to fly.  And that gave him even more to talk about, too!

Based on a Native American legend, this is a play about reaching beyond the "every day" and striving to do more, even when it seems to be impossible.
